Is my wood deck maintenance-free after Deck Tech seals it? Your deck is exposed to elements year ‘round and may pick up dirt and debris, so it is vital to the life of the surface to always keep it as clean as possible. This is easily done by periodically rinsing the surface down with soap and water.
How long before I can use my deck after it has been sealed? You must wait a minimum of 48 hours.
Do you offer a warranty on your sealers? Yes, see Deck Tech warranty.
What sealers does Deck Tech use? Deck Tech uses Deck Tech Stain/Sealant. Can my grayed-out deck be restored? Yes, Deck Tech can professionally remove the grayed out appearance of the wood and bring it back to its original state.
I noticed after my deck was stripped of the old product, some parts of the deck looks “fuzzy”, Is this normal? Yes, lignin is the natural glue in the wood that keeps the wood fibers together. When a deck is stripped, the lignin is broken down, causing the wood fibers to stand up. This is a normal occurrence and over time, the “fuzziness” will naturally diminish. Why is wood adversely affected by the weather? Left unprotected, wood suffers photo degradation by ultraviolet light (sunlight); leaching (water absorption into wood components); hydrolysis (as in acid rain attack) shrinking and swelling caused by water absorption into and evaporation from the wood; and finally discoloration and degradation by decay promoting micro-organisms.
